Feeling Bubbly

This week has been cold and rainy, with dull, cloudy skies. Pretty much... our weather has been the pits, and was giving me the blues!

Today the sun is shining, although it's a little breezy, the temperature promises to be a little more than 20 degrees warmer than yesterday! It's a complete turn around. Yes, I'm Phil Robertson Happy, Happy, Happy!

What goes with nice weather and plenty of sunshine? You guessed it... Bubbles!

For some strange reason, I woke up this morning with bubbles on the brain. I wanted to make them. My kids are no longer little and may, or may not be interested in blowing bubbles. But that didn't stop me from making a gallon. Before making breakfast, I whipped up one of three bubbles recipes below, I found on Pinterest.

Super Giant Bubbles - I chose to make this recipe because I had all the ingredients, and it is new to me.

Simple Homemade bubbles - This recipe I've used for my children numerous times, it's okay.

My favorite bubble recipe - This one is the same as the second one, but has a glycerin option. Glycerin makes better bubbles than corn syrup.

So what did I do with that gallon of bubbles? I gave them to two of the cutest little girls around, along with a few bubble wands I kept just in case of emergencies.

What do you do when the weather is beautiful?

You Only Live Once

I'm trying my best not to make New Years Resolutions, but I can't help thinking about places I'd like to go, or see, and things I'd like to do. Some this year, and others this lifetime, but do plan to do them all!

1. Visit The Redwood Forest. Watching The Rise of The Planet Apes, Caesar was taken to play and climb amongst the red woods. It reminded me of a song we sang when I was young... "This land is your land, this land is my land, from the Redwood Forest to the gulf stream waters..." Why the red woods? Why not.

2. Camp at Petit Jean Mountain's Cedar Falls. This State park is in my back yard. Not actually, but I can get there inside of two hours. Last year I tossed around the idea of going, but I missed going before it got warm, and the water fall dried up for the summer. THIS YEAR, I'm making definite plans to go! My family has never been camping, and it's time... in the cabins of course!

3. Wade in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. I've never been to California, and when I went to Virginia, I could see the Atlantic Ocean. We never got close enough where I could put my feet in. I have a strong urge to see both. I have been to the Gulf of Mexico, in Galveston, and played in the Caribbean Sea in Montego Bay, Jamaica (pictured above). The water was... I don't have words.

4. See a Broadway show. In 1991, I was in New York, my friend and I stood in line to get tickets to a show in the freezing cold. By the time we got to the window the show we wanted to see was all sold out. My middle daughter went to New York, two years ago with a group, and they saw The Lion King, and loved it. I made up my mind, seeing a Broadway show was going on my list.

5. Zip line. Although I am afraid of heights, I've wanted to take a zip line tour for a while. Sounds crazy, but it excites me just thinking about it. And guess what... there are zip line tours in my state!

6. Visit San Antonio's River Walk. My mother, and my husband have both talked about how beautiful the River Walk is, and it's a must see for me!

7. Join Pintrest! I've seen so many cool pictures and pinups (I think that's what it's called) on Twitter, and Facebook, until I'm really intrigued! Pintrest is defiantly a THIS YEAR "to do."

8. Update my wardrobe. Because I've gained weight, and need to lose 15 lbs. NOTHING fits! I'm not a fashionista, and I'd really like to be that fashion foward hot mama! After I lose the weight, THIS YEAR, I'd love to start working on a whole new wardrobe, especially clothes for work! I'm going to need help, a stylist, or maybe even a coach!

What are things you've been thinking about, pondering, or just considering? Come on... let's make it happen. You Only Live Once #YOLO!

Just Dancing

I've wanted to share this post with you since my return from Blogalicious11. I can't wait any longer!

Friday night of Blogalicious, Ubisoft, the makers of Just Dance video games, along with Clever Girls Collective, hosted a Just Dance 3 Jam. It was a blast! We'd already had a full day of workshops, networking, and fun. Krystal and I drug ourselves to the jam, with intentions of staying for just a little while. And then it was on... there was no leaving!

Starting with large group dances, everyone danced along with the game, laughing and having a great time. Then it was competition time. We split up into groups of four, for a dance off. It was so much fun watching the other teams, and laughing.

Our turn came, The Hot Girls (pictured top right) The Chatty Momma, Krystal, Nannette, and myself. We wore crowns of different colors, and the head bands that read Just Dance 3, we were sharp! This game is a workout, and so much fun when you're dancing with others.

Pictured bottom right, (left of the frame) Rene Syler, with her group. Go Rene, get busy!

As you can see, we were just as funny when we danced! I don't even remember the song we danced to, but I had a great time! Check out my dance faces, it was a serious situation! We were getting our jam on!

And the winner of the dance off was... The Hot Girls!!! We won! We won! We shot the BB-gun! Ubisoft drew cards for giveaways of the Just Dance 3 game, and I was a winner!!! How about that, I won twice.

We have Just Dance 2 at home and enjoy it very much, but Ubisoft stepped it up with 3! It has so many more great songs. The kids and I have been looking forward to the game coming in the mail. Every day, one of them wants to know if it's here yet.

My middle daughter will turn 16 next year, and she doesn't know it yet... Just Dance 3, will be played at her party!

I found the neatest thing, Blog Hop '10, Robin at PENSIEVE'S is hosting the 3rd Annual Blog Hop! Created as an at-home opportunity for bloggers to meet and greet during BlogHer's annual conference.

What's a Blog Hop? Glad you asked... check out the Blog Hop '10 post, and be enlightened! Now that all the preliminaries are out of the way, here goes...

A little about me and my blog
  • I'm a 40-something wife, and mom of 5, one young adult, three teens, and a tween. Yes, bless.my.heart.
  • I love all things social media! I'm a Twitter fanatic, like to Skype, and reigning Mayor of my Wal-Mart, on FourSquare.
  • I'm a "Foodie," in training, and a wanna-be "Travelista."
  • I'm a lifestyle blogger writing about my journey through my 40s, and all that goes with it. I realized, there is so much I've not done, and trying my best to get to it. But often I get side tracked, life happens, and I write about that too.

I Am Ready For Some Kick Ball!!!

Each summer our church has Homecoming & Family Day. It's a two day event that kicks off on Saturday with food and fun! Last year was THE.BEST.EVER! The grownups and kids played kickball together!

Last year, I didn't go prepared to play kickball. I wore jean capri's, and flip-flops, and somehow got in the game. Next Saturday, is Homecoming & Family Day, and we're playing kickball again!

Before last year, I had not played kickball since middle school maybe?! That was a long time ago! It was just like riding a bike, I jumped right in, and played... alright.

I have to admit, the next morning, I was a little sore! I ran bases, and I am NOT a runner!  Balls came my way, and I had to throw it. Muscles were used, I forgot were there, but they reminded!

Today, I have one week to get ready! I've been taking tennis lessons, and have built up a little stamina. This week I'll train in preparation. On the schedule is short sprints, and stretching exercises. I'll also practice catching and throwing! This year, I'll dress properly, and play better than alright.

Watch out, here I come, ready to get some kick.some.ball!

And if you're in the neighborhood, you're invited too.
