Random Friday
Things have finally started to... for lack of a better phrase, taper off. I feel like I can breath again. Although our summers are usually pretty busy, the end of the school year can be crazy! Last week my daughter's high school softball team played in the first round of the State's 6A tournament, which ended their season. Baby girl made cheerleader for next school year. That's not an ending, more like the beginning of her summer.
Tuesday, I turned in ALL of my grades, thus ending my semester. Each year I tell myself I'll do better, and not get so stressed out. It still hasn't happened, maybe next time. Wednesday, I celebrated my 29th birthday. I know, I know... for a while now I've said I'm 26. My oldest daughter will be 23 this summer, I figure I have to move up a little. Soon she'll just have to go around!
I had the BEST birthday ever! I walked five miles, and Mr. Husband treated me to a birthday lunch of my favorite... shrimp! Oldest daughter gave me a gift set of my favorite perfume, Daisy, and I rested the rest of the day. Great day!
Lets back up to last week. I didn't want to say anything, but now I absolutely must! I started walking, and cutting back. No, not a diet, just cutting back! I started walking four miles, and on my birthday this week, added a mile! Keeping track of my food intake at livestrong.com has really helped. I made a commitment to lose two pounds a week.
With Live Strong's My Plate, keeping up with my calories it was easier than I thought. I've never been a calorie counter, but this works. After entering information, and how much weight I want to lose per week, it gave me just how many calories to consume each day to achieve my goal. Monday morning, I stepped on the scale two pounds lighter. You would have thought I had won the lottery.
This summer... I'm losing that 10 pounds I gained last summer!

A Little Bit Of This, And That
This picture is as random as the three topics I wrote about today. I can't wait to |
Me & Coca Cola
It's been 23 days since I've had a Coke. I didn't intentionally stop drinking Coke, it just kind of happened. I got sick with a slight case of the flu, and didn't drink any. When I realized it had been three days, I then consciously made a decision to go five days, then nine.
Whick brings me to day 23.
I don't like to set goals for an extended period of time, it's like setting myself up for sabotage. But... I would like to try to make 100 days Coke free. That's June 1st, and 77 days to go. Instead of looking at the big picture, I'll break it down into smaller pieces, until I reach 100 days!
5K Training
In Not Tardy For The Party last week, I told you I started a Walk to 5K training program, and this week hasn't been the best week for walking. As of today, I walked two days this week, and jump roped another. This morning I almost didn't walk at all, because of a slight headache. Instead giving into excuses, I took two Excedrin, and soldiered on, glad I did!
Last week instead of doing just as the plan said, walking and running, I walked only. I'm not a runner, and pushing myself to run right out of the gate would not be smart. This morning, after warming up, I walked four minutes, then ran one, and repeated for 2 miles. To others my running may look like walking really fast leaning forward, but it is what it is! OMG, one minute is a very long time! I survived, and was really proud of myself!
Since I won't be able to be a part of the Heart & Soul 5K on May 12, I will walk/run a 5K the week of my birthday, the week after. I'll invite my friends and family to join me.
Organization is Key
This morning, my 15-year-old stuffed her softball uniform in her bag, and ran out of the house to catch the bus. Shortly thereafter, I noticed her books had been left behind! Guess who had to take them to school? A counselor laughed, and said she got the most import thing!
I'm always staying on her about being organized. Knowing the bus comes at 7a.m. every morning, and that she's super slow, she should get EVERYTHING together the night before. But it seems the more I talk... the crazier I get (got that one from Mr. Husband).
I'm inspired to be more organized, when it comes to time management. As I do more, I've realized, scheduling things to ensure it gets done, is a good idea. Currently, I'm trying to work an editorial calendar, along with my idea notebook. It's very important for me to stay on top of dates, topics, and titles for other sites I write for, which will help with record keeping. If I schedule time for walking, writing, updates... I wont feel overwhelmed.
Over spring break next week, I plan to come up with a schedule, and stick to it!

Getting Rid Of ALL The Clutter
I've not made it an official New Years Resolution... but I'm declutter my life, one thing at a time. This weekend it was the attic. OMG, I threw a lot of shit stuff away! Today, I'm decluttering my Google Reader, and clicking "unsubscribe."
I'm not just going through all willy-nilly and unsubscribing blogs and websites. I'm unsubscribing to the blogs and sites that haven't posted in like FOREVER! Seriously, if a blogger or a website hasn't posted anything since 2010, or 2009, it's dead... and cluttering up my reader.
So, if you've not posted in a very long time, and I "unsubscribe" don't be offended. When you start posting again, I'll gladly resubscribe (is that a word?). Until then I'm destressing (again I don't think that's a word), and decluttering. Smooches!

The Break Is Over
Christmas break is officially over today. The kids have gone back to school, and it's back to work I go.
It wasn't an amazing break, but it was a good break. I got a chance to rest, and watched a couple of movies I'd been waiting to be released on DVD... 'The Help,' and 'Rise of the Planet of The Apes.'
This summer, I fell in love with 'The Help,' after reading the book. Although there were things in the book that didn't make it to the movie... it was great! I loved hearing Aibileen tell Mae Mobley, "You is kind... you is smart... you is important," just as much as I did reading it. And when Minny told Hilly to "Eat.My.Shit," I laughed all over again!
'The Help,' is right up there with 'The Color Purple,' for me... Classic!
The last 'Planet of the Apes,' had me waiting for 'The Rise of The Planet of the Apes.' Although it didn't pick up where it left off, I did enjoy it. I found myself rooting for Caesar, and when he spoke... I was done! Absolutely brilliant, I never saw it coming.
The day after Christmas, I had #pajamaparty! I stayed in my pajama's all day long, and I didn't cook at all! It was every man, woman and child for themselves. I watched TV, ate, slept, and ate some more. *deep sigh* A very good day!
There was one mishap... if I can call it that. We didn't put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving like usual. I just didn't have the Christmas Spirit. Finally the week of Christmas, Babygirl pulled the tree out of the attic, and down stairs. While she started putting it together, I ran out and bought red and white stripped mesh, and candy canes to decorate our tree. And that's all that made it onto that tree! No ornaments. No lights. Yes, it was a little sad looking.
Each year, after Christmas we put the ornaments and tree back in their boxes, and put them back in the attic. Babygirl could not find them.
Yesterday, we took the tree down, and cleaned out the attic (one of last years resolutions), throwing out a ton of stuff that we were just holding on to. There was no sign of the ornament box.
How in the world could a box that big go missing???
Now that left over Christmas decorations are on sale, I'll buy for Christmas 2012.
Right now, I have tunnel vision... Spring Break '12, here I come!!!
