Going Pink For The Cure

In September, Governor Mike Beebe declared October 7, as Arkansas GO PINK FOR THE CURE DAY, (the 2011 proclamation). It's an effort to get the entire state involved in breast cancer awareness.

I am an advocate and supporter of breast cancer awareness, and any opportunity to color my hair is welcome. Yes, I actually sprayed my hair pink... only the front. And I wore it to work. I got a few odd looks, but not as many as when I wore the pink wig last year.

This year I will miss Arkansas' Race For The Cure, but you don't have to. You still have time to register, and participate. Check out my past post after the 2010 Race For The Cure.

What are you doing to promote breast cancer awareness? There are several ways you can get involved. Start today!

TweetUp For A Cure

2009 Race For The Cure with three really gnarly guys!

For a while now, I've wanted to host a TweetUp. What's stopping me? Not a thing!

There is a monthly TweetUp about 45 minutes away. Because of my kids schedules, along with the times and days of those TweetUps, I've not been able to attend. But having one in my city would be great. I've waited for someone else to do it, and...

So, I'm going to jump out there. Now that I'm saying it out loud (if a blog constitutes out loud), it has to go down!

October, date TBA, location TBA, I'm hosting a Pink On Parade TweetUp. It's all about breast cancer awareness!

2010 Komen Race For The Cure Little Rock At A Glance

I had a great time at this year's Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure - Little Rock. I recorded a vlog, Tweeted, and remembered to Cinchcast, all of about two times. If you've never participated in a Race For The Cure, you're missing out on an AWESOME experience!

There were several thousand women running and walking, in a steady stream of pink, while the 'Three Mile of Men' and women stood on the sideline, cheering them on. I get chills just thinking about it.

Save the Ta-ta's!

Bloggers For The Cure - Virtual Rally

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and leading up to our local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Oct. 16, I'm hosting a virtual rally, Bloggers For The Cure.

This year makes my 5th Race For the Cure, and the 3rd year my friend and I have will walk with our daughters. I wanted to do something extra this time. I considered having a blogger meetup, or rally, and came up with something even better.

What is it?
Bloggers For The Cure, is a rally, only a virtual one, blog hop style. And what better way to help support a very important cause, by using our voices as a bloggers for the awareness of breast cancer, while influencing others.

It's time to spread the message of awareness throughout our virtual community.

How to participate?
You can blog for the cure by writing a post about: Why you race; Saving 2nd Base; Being a survivor; Personal experiences with breast cancer, or what ever moves you.

Not only is this rally about strengthening the awareness of breast cancer, but strengthening our online communities. Your rally post will be linked to this Bloggers For The Cure post, and all those who participate have the opportunity to read your stories.

What Else?
*Each Blogger For The Cure post should include the above badge, with a link back to this post.

* In the Mr. Linky, paste your post's URL/permalink to that post only, not your main page.

* If you chose, encourage others to participate in their area's 'Race For The Cure,' or make donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

* And don't forget to comment, and follow each others blogs.

Let's get this rally started!

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as well as Arkansas' Susan G. Komen's Race for the cure.

This year will be my fifth year walking in the race, and the fourth that my friend and I have walked with our daughters. My family  look forward to this experience together. The girls and I walk, while Mr. Husband joins The 3 Mile of Men.

Last year I wore a pink wig. After the race was over, my family wouldn't let me wear my wig to the mall. This year... lets just say I plan on doing it BIG! If I spray my hair pink, they won't have a choice!

The past couple of years, I've learned the strong voice blogs, social media has, and it effective it can be when rallying the troops. This year, I plan to use my "social media voice" for a one of my favorite causes.

Stay tooned!
