No Green Thumb... But I'll Try My Hand

Our house is heavily landscaped, (it came with the house), and I've had NOTHING to do with it. It's very beautiful, and really adds curb appeal. I learned that from HGTV!

Since we moved in nearly 8 years ago, all I've had to do is wait for Spring. The flowers, and greenery just come back. It's done so well without ANY HELP from me, and I'm so grateful.

Last Spring, one area started looking a little... hmmm... how do I put it?! Over grown, maybe? It started becoming over run by everything but pretty.

This Spring... see for your self!

There are a few trees sprouting. Do you see the in the middle of the picture? It's just sitting there like it BELONGS! In addition to the tree, rogue monkey grass, and weeds are taking over. And in the mix there are a few perennials.

Perennial fighting to stay alive. Poor thing!

This year I'm going to make that plot pretty again! This is where I should confess. All but two plants I've EVER had, have died on me. The two that haven't died, I have now. They're not alive because of me. I think they have a STRONG will to live.

Mr. Husband keeps the yard well manicured, and looking very nice. Actually, he's anal about his grass! We CAN NOT walk on it! And I'd like to make a contribution to the beauty of our yard.

I consulted my friend "P," who's is a home and garden expert. She gave me a few tips on beautifying my plot.
  • Pull up monkey grass
  • Mow & hoe
  • Spray Grass Be Gone, and wait a few days
  • Add pete moss
  • And plant!

Sounds simple enough right? We shall see!

Good Luck with the gardening. I'm so mad at my gardener because he killed my tree that's in my front yard. I don't know how it happened but a few weeks ago I noticed that the leaves on the tree had died. I'm gonna have to speak to him about that.

Steve - Thanks for stopping by Steve, and I will do just that!

Krystal - I wish I had a gardener right about now, this project is more than what I imagined. But, I'm going to see it through! Mr. Husband may qualify as the gardener.

We've had 4 trees to die on the side of our house. I was so sad for my dogwood trees. They're one of my favorites.

Makes me sit and wonder what the Garden of Eden looked like.
I’ve enjoyed looking over your blog. I came across it through another blog I follow, and I’m glad I did. I am now a follower of yours as well. Feel free to look over my blog and perhaps become one as well.

I absolutely hate lawn work. I live in South Carolina now, but when I lived in New Jersey and owned a home there lawnwork didn't seem as daunting a task. My lawn there was a little smaller than the one that I have here, but this yard is twice as difficult to keep up.

My lawn is beautiful right now, but there have been years when it just wasn't so. I hate lawnwork, but I'll do it. I guess my lawn is a reflection of me and it doesn't help that my two neighbors are both retired and have nothing but time to work in their own yards.

Covnitkepr1 - I betcha the Garden of Eden didn't look that mess of mine! Thanks for commenting, and following. I will be sure to return the favor!

Reggie - I'm with you, I hate yard work too! More of the raking, and bagging leaves, OMG I hate that! We have more than 20 trees, no lie!

The first fall we were in our house, we raked leaves EVERY Saturday, alllll day long! We'd end up with about 30 bags.

Then Mr. Husband got smart, that's why I married him. He bought a lawn mower, with a bag to catch the leaves! The best thing EVER! Now he, and the son take care of that in the matter of an hour!

The garden is looking good! I can't stand doing lawn work! Too bad it needs to be done. Remember to Beware Hogweed in the Garden and you'll be good! :)
