Endangered Species

Last weekend while running back and forth between a basketball game, and a talent show rehearsal, I was stopped dead in my tracks. I couldn't believe my eyes!

As if I'd seen something that no one would believe, I whipped out my cell phone and took a picture. I had to record this... it maybe the last functioning one of its kind. This pay phone is truly an endangered species.

Not that long ago pay phones, and phone booths were everywhere, in malls, restaurants, and street corners. Now they're relics to remind us the good old days. Wait a minute... those days aren't actually that old.

In college, I used to sit in the window at the end of the hall, and talk to my boyfriend for hours on a pay phone. Said boyfriend is now, Mr. Husband. I had a calling card, so that I could call home only. Wow, that was just 25 years ago.

Technology has changed the way we communicate in so many ways. Not only can I talk, I can text, tweet... with people on the other side of the world without assistance,  or effort. I'm excited about what the next 10 years has in store.

What endangered species have you encountered?

Will still have a rotary phone in the kitchen of our church. I asked my niece to call her mom one day and she stood there looking at it like.."What am I supposed to do with this"? She honestly did not know how to use it! I laughed so hard!

I can't believe that is a payphone. I thought those were extinct a long time ago. Things are changing so quickly. Before you know it no one will even have a home phone anymore. Everyone will have a cell phone and all of the telephone poles will be replaced with cell towers.

Girl what's even funnier is that you said Calling Card. THat's even funnier than the phone booth/pay phone. I wonder how much they were charging for a call. I remember when it used to be a dime.
