The Me Jar

A while ago, I started saving my spare change, and putting it in a jar. At first it was just spare change, but recently it has become my "Me Jar." The collection of coins now have a purpose.

I tried to save $1 bills a few years ago. That was a total bust. I was constantly dipping into my stash, for the kids lunch money, or other things for the kids.

Not this time. The contents of the jar are for ME, and me only! I always put myself last, which means, I don't usually get the things I really want. The Me Jar, will help me save, and buy a few things I want without feeling guilty. What am I going to buy? Glad you asked. I made a wish list, and added it to the jar.

Topping that list is The Flip. I must have one of those video cameras! My video camera is ancient, and the battery WILL NOT stay connected. Uploading video is impossible.

The Flip, is small, and easy to use, and can fit into my purse with no problems. It connects right to computers, making it easy to upload videos. The Mino HD, has 120 minutes of recording space, 8 GB of memory. I WANT THAT CAMERA!!! Having a Flip, I'd be able to capture the kids sporting highlights, the crazy things they do, and share them with friends. I can even start adding video to my blog. Oh the things, I could do!

Looking at my jar again, I'm seeing far more pennies than silver coins, and no green stuff at all! I'm going to have to do something different, if I plan on getting The Flip this year. I'm thinking a bigger jar, start adding dollar bills.
Hmmm... What if I cut out drinking Coke. That's not going to happen!

That change can really add up. I ended up having $30.00 worth of change in my purse once!

Stacey - Wow, $30, in your purse?! I can't ever come up with more than $2. Now, I'm really wanting to know how much I've saved so far!

When I switch out pursees I usually just take the stuff I need out of the current purse and leave the rest of the stuff in the old one. I once cleaned out all of my purses and ended up with $72.45 in change. What did I do with it? Lol...I bought another purse! I'm terrible!

The me jar is a great idea! I want one of those flip cameras too! Good luck!

Just found your blog, and wanted to let you know my husband just recently received a Flip from his work. I didn't even know what it was? I do now, and love it. It is so easy to use. I even put up a post of deer running down our street. I need to search around a bit, to found out about the cooking project. I need help in that area.
Take care,
Dana

This is a great idea! I started an Ebay store but your idea is so much easier. My goal was to also set aside money for me. I may do this too!
