Blogalicious QR Code Message

Scan the code, there is actually a message!
Before heading to Blogalicious11, I read Getting Hip to QR Codes: a #Blogalicious11 Special Post by BrothaTech. After reading the post, I immediately downloaded a QR Code Reader. Although very intrigued, it was at the conference I realized how important, powerful, and convenient (I could go on, but I will stop) QR codes are.

Blogalicious11 Take Away: Know where it is you want to lead your readers, followers... and take them there! - Aliza Sherman "The Good, The Awesome and The Sexy About Mobile Marketing."

The QR Code above is not just a picture. Using BrothaTech's directions, I was able to generate my own code. It's my very first one, so don't look for something amazing... yet!

Look for more Blogalicious11 updates, take aways, pictures... I have plenty to share!

Blogalicious... Here I Come

Blogalicious is just three weeks away! I've always been excited, but the closer it gets... I feel like a little kid anticipating Christmas.

It's been a while since I wrote, Preparing For Blogalicious, but what to do, and when to do it, is always on my mind. The next big thing I'm doing to prepare is order business cards. I should have done this a month ago. Trying to decide the cards design, and information, has been an on-going struggle.

I know what you're thinking, isn't it going to take that long to get the cards back? No, I'm using a local vendor, that can have them ready in two days tops, and it's not costing me my first born. I kind of like her.

This morning while cruising the bloggyverse, I watched one of ChatterBox Christie's videos, Networking Tip: Before You Go #2. That was exactly what I needed! I'm going to take her advice, and put my picture on my card, as well as a QR Code, using the front and back.

Finally, I can have business cards made!

What tips and hints do you recommend, when preparing for a conference?

Arkansas Women Bloggers Unplugged - Recapped

Recently, I attended my very first blogger conference, right here in my own state.

When I first started blogging, for some crazy reason, I thought I was the lone Arkansas blogger. Soon I found out there were more, many more! I met a few last year at Little Rock CheeseburgHer, and even more at the Arkansas Womens Bloggers Meetup in December. And you guessed it, I met even more bloggers fom Arkansas, along with a few from out of state at this mini-conference.

Arkansas Women Bloggers Unplugged was hosted by the Ozark Natural Science Center, (an absolutely beautiful place, in what appeared in the dark as, the middle of no where!

I learned so much, and took pages, and pages of notes. I would have Tweeted some of the great information, but because of our remote location, we were truly unplugged. Following is information that should have been Tweets.

- Wow, @ONCS is awesome! Note to self... must come back again. Wonder what it looks like in daytime. #AWBU

- Promote other people 12 times more than your own. via @TechTeacherGirl #AWBU

- Write lots of blog post while you have the ideas, and schedule your post. via @JackieWolven #gentraffic #AWBU

- Connect to other communities. Connect yourself to things you're aligned with on the web. #gentraffic #AWBU

- Post recipes, or how-to's... anything with a step-by-step tutorials #gentraffic #AWBU

- @CollectiveBias rocks BIG TIME! #communities #AWBU

- Thou shall be consistent, not just on blog, but Facebook, and Twitter. via @NWAMotherlode #10command #AWBU

- Thou shall have a brand name, tag line and logo #10command #AWBU

- @RobynsWorld is #kindofabigdeal. She'll never live this down! lol #AWBU

And this was only a taste of what the weekend had to offer.

The conference sponsors include Collective Bias, Off Botanicals, Elmer's Glue, Field Notes Brand, Ghirardelli Chocolate, H.J. Heinz, MurphyUSA, NWA Motherlode, Petit Jean Meats, and SC Johnson brands (Glade, Windex, Shout, OFF!).

Blogalicious Or Bust

Since last year this time, I've had my heart set on attending Blogalicious Weekend. Can I be real, and tell you I've dreamed about being front and center at THIS conference?

A few weeks ago, my desk top gave up the ghost, and just quit on me. It was about 9 years old, and this year alone cost me the price of hotel, and conference registration for Blogalicious. Yes, that much!

So, I HAD to get a computer. I have blogging, Tweeting, Youtubing, and other social media stuff to do. My 'My Blogalicious' post couldn't be done every week without a computer. And of course, I do the occassional work related things, and the kids have homework.

I'm having mixed emotions, the computer is WONDERFUL! *smile* But I will miss My Blogalicious. *frown*

I was looking forward to meeting the ladies of Mama Law, the founders of Blogalicious Weekend, and the My Blogalicious Community. Krystal Grant, The Blog Rollers The Chatter Box and Ask Wifey, were also on the list of personalities I wanted to smooze with. It ain't happening this year!

Mark my words... I am attending Blogalicious Weekend next year!

I've printed the agenda for the conference, and I'll be in front of my computer, holding down Twitter, watching the Tweets roll in from #beblogalicious.

Now, I'm planning in advance for next year. And on my schedule I have Blissdom, and Blogalicious Weekend. Maybe, just maybe, I'll see some of the Blogalicious ladies in Nashville.

Not Going to BlogHer?

Me either.

Although I'm not going to BlogHer, I'm not letting that stop me from learning as much as I can from those who are attending. And how am I going to do that? Glad you asked.

First I checked out the agenda, looking for all the sessions I would like to attend, and the times. There are great sessions planned!

Next, on the BlogHer site I book marked the liveblogging page. During the actual panel, and keynote addresses, I (we) can follow along, as an attendee is blogging LIVE! How cool is that!

So that I don't miss the real action, the tweetsations, I headed over to Tweetgrid, and set up a grid for the hashtag #blogher10, so that I can keep up with everything else!

If you're not going to BlogHer, but have found other ways to keep up with what's going on in New York... do tell!
